Who we are The Maine Nurse Practitioner Association is the professional organization for nurse practitioners who constitute the largest group among Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), and number about 3,147 in Maine. The board certifications for NPs are - Family, Psychiatric Mental Health, Adult Gerontology Primary Care, Adult Gerontology Acute Care, Pediatric Primary Care, Pediatric Acute Care, Women’s Health and Neonatal. Many NPs may also have specific areas of interest and expertise in medical and surgical subspecialties (endocrinology, cardiology, gastroenterology and many others), underserved populations and rural health care. You are an integral member of your professional organization. Conferences: We host two conferences annually, each accredited by the AANP. Our conferences provide quality education and networking for advanced practice professionals, and are offered at a discount to members. Public Policy / Advocacy: You can offer contribution to the strong advocacy programs centered on assuring that public health voices are being heard. You can keep track of advanced practice and issues with potential impact of health care issues.. Arrange contracts with a lobbyist to advocate for priority advanced practice issues of health care issues. Informational Services: The association keeps members in touch with each other and current issues through the association’s web site and email updates of emerging issues relevant to advanced practice.
